JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT

Flexible

Flexible is based on a panel painting created in Basquiat’s Venice, California studio in 1984 and features two of Basquiat’s most famous motifs: the griot-a storyteller, entertainer, and purveyor of oral history from West African culture and the venerable crown. Both in Basquiat’s signature broad and aggressive brush strokes, this is one of his most arresting and iconic figures.
