Time is the Essence transforms some of the world’s most recognizable images, corporate logos, slogans, and cultural symbols into a new visual language. Through vivid, saturated color and bold visual imagery, these familiar signs—universally understood and deeply embedded in our memory—are repurposed to confront one urgent reality: time is running out, and our planet demands attention.

“The Junglenuts,” a cast of animal figures holding their own protest signs, recur throughout the exhibition. Silent yet direct, they echo the language of demonstration, reinforcing the idea that urgency must be visible, and they are expressing their own voice the only way they can. Time is the Essence is not about the future—it is about the present. The balance between human activity and the natural world is no longer distant or theoretical. It is immediate.

Through this body of work, Guetta explores the role advertising plays in our everyday lives. These images and symbols have become so embedded in our culture that we recognize and understand them instantly, often without even reading the words themselves. By reimagining these familiar visuals, Guetta transforms them into messages of hope, love, and urgency surrounding the future of our planet.
